GLIMMERS: What Are They?

It was manifesting at first. The summer of Lucky Girl Syndrome followed. We would now like to present glimmers to you.

Glimmers are happy and peaceful times. They are often characterised as brief moments of serenity and contentment that act as a ray of hope to settle our nerves.

They are also necessary for maintaining our mental health.

"We would be in a dysregulated state without them," states energy healer and spiritual/holistic therapist Tamarin Oblowitz. She holds a Master of Arts in clinical psychology and is also certified as a professional psychotherapist. Glimpses offer a welcome break from our fight-or-flight response, which is what we would most likely be experiencing.

Additionally, she says, "spending time with loved ones and family creates glimmers and activates oxytocin, sparking joy, calm, and cultivating peace within us."

The fact that we don't have to wait for a glimmer to appear is the best part. They can be started by us, and when we do, they work much better.

It goes without saying that a hug from a loved one or a special moment spent with someone you care about can make us feel a little brighter. The greatest moments arise from ourselves when we understand that we have the ability to bring delight to ourselves," Tamarin says.

It's not necessary for a gleam to be transient in order for the feeling to exist. Glimmers can last, but they need work and consistency.

According to Tamarin, "maintaining a glimmer just requires making a commitment to joyful daily routines and making the decision to concentrate (most of the time) on the emotions we experience from the glimmers." "What we concentrate on expands, and concentrating on glimmers permits them to expand."

This Zen recipe doesn't call for a filter.
